ABOUT the WPS

The Westmoreland Photographers Society is an organization of amateur and professional photographers. The WPS is a great place to learn about photography from fellow members.

A few of the activities enjoyed by the club include field trips, workshops, exhibiting at different establishments, an annual Christmas party, a spring and fall picnic, monthly newsletter, additional classes and meetings, and a monthly online members photo challenge.  All of this is included with your membership.

WHERE WE MEET

The WPS has several meetings per month. The majority of our meetings are held online via Zoom. So you can join wherever you may happen to be. Our main meeting is held on the second Monday of the month at 7:00pm.

SWG MEETING

Throughout the year, we offer an experienced SWG (Special Working Group) meeting that focuses on news, software demostrations, and technical issues that members may be having. This meeting is on the last Thursday of each month at 7:00pm via Zoom.

BASICS OF PHOTOGRAPHY CLASS / LIGHTROOM AND PHOTOSHOP CLASS

We also offer a Basics of Photography class that focuses on the very basics of photography and helping those that just purchased a camera. We also alternate the Basics of Photography Class with a basic Lightroom and Photoshop class from year to year. This meeting takes place March through November on the first Thursday of the month. Please contact us for more information.

PHOTO OUTINGS

Every month, the WPS participates in at least one photo outing. Some are local to the Greensburg area, others are a little further away such as West Virginia, Ohio, and Maryland. We travel to the Pittsburgh area a few times a year to do street or architecture photography. We also venture into the Laurel Highlands to do landscape photography. If there is a place you would like to travel to with us, just let us know.
