Who we are

The Westmoreland Photographers Society (WPS) is a vibrant community of amateur and professional photographers. It serves as an excellent platform for members to learn and grow in their craft. The club offers a variety of engaging activities, including field trips, workshops, exhibitions at different establishments, an annual Christmas party, a spring and fall picnic, a monthly newsletter, additional classes and meetings, and a monthly online members photo challenge. All these enriching experiences are included in your membership.

Where We Meet

The WPS conducts several meetings each month. The majority of these meetings are held online via Zoom, allowing participants to join from anywhere. Our primary meeting is scheduled for the second Monday of each month at 7:00 p.m.

SWG Meeting

Throughout the year, we organize an experienced SWG (Special Working Group) meeting that centers around news updates, software demonstrations, and technical issues that members may be encountering. This meeting takes place on the last Thursday of each month at 7:00 pm via Zoom.

Classes We Offer

We also offer a Basics of Photography class that delves into the fundamental concepts of photography and provides guidance to individuals who have recently purchased a camera. Additionally, we alternate the Basics of Photography Class with a basic Lightroom and Photoshop class from year to year. This meeting occurs from April to November on the first Thursday of each month. For more information, please contact us.

Classes We Offer

Every month, the WPS organizes at least one photo outing. Some outings are local to the Greensburg area, while others take us to more distant locations like West Virginia, Ohio, and Maryland. We also visit the Pittsburgh area a few times a year to capture street or architecture photography. Additionally, we venture into the Laurel Highlands to photograph landscapes. If there’s a place you’d like to explore with us, please let us know.
